Angelique Velez can quite literally say “love raised me, but lipstick saved me”. Velez used her own personal journey with heartbreak to fuel the creation of Breakups to Makeup (B2M), which is now one of the country’s most sought after high-quality accessory and apparel brands for makeup enthusiasts.
Born and raised in New York City, and of Puerto Rican and Cuban descent, Velez launched B2M in June 2013 to spread the message that makeup is more than just a simple product, but also an art form. As a makeup artist for more than a decade, Angelique recognized the importance of this creative outlet and wanted a way to educate and inspire others while turning heartbreak into moments of Self-celebration.
Prior to embracing entrepreneurship and dedicating herself full time to her passion project, Velez was, and still is, a professional makeup artist. Velez has had the opportunity to work with leading artists such as Dick Page, Tom Pecheux, Kabuki, Christian McCulloch, Hung Vanngo, Makky, James Vincent, and Yuko Takahashi, and has been a part of shows for Michael Kors, Marc by Marc Jacobs, Project Runway, Alexander Wang and Tommy Hilfiger. She’s also worked notable televised events including the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show and the MTV Video Music Awards where she was able to work with celebrities such as Sean Combs, Tracy Morgan, Jimmy Fallon, Andy Samberg and Taylor Lautner. Velez currently resides in New York, but enjoys traveling, while also being a full-time mom!
"I am a HUGE fan of blush. I love using this brush because it’s not only super soft, but it gives me perfect placement of my product. It’s lightweight and so easy to use because of its shape and size. This is my favorite brush to use when going for a sun kissed look using blush."
"This brush is great for liquid and cream products. I use it for both my cream foundation and highlighters. I really like the shape as it allows me to easily blend my product and control it because it is not too large and overpowering."
"I am a fan of smaller brushes, especially when placing products in certain areas. I like to use the brush intentionally in certain areas of the face with my concealer. I will use it for contouring as well as I am able to manipulate it. The brush does all the work for me because of the size."
"I love a good fluffy brush and this one is one of my favorites. I use it for everything powder related from setting the makeup to highlight, contour and blush. I also love it for sculpting the face and adding dimension. It blends everything so easily and is the perfect size.."
"This is the absolute best blending blush! I use it not only to blend my eyeshadow, but I honestly love using it to blend my concealer, particularly underneath the eye area or when blending around a blemish to give it an airbrushed look. It gives such a flawless application."
"This brush is great for both the eye and lip area. For the eyes I like to use it to tight line and for wing liner using either liquid or cream liner. I can manipulate it and control it well, which is so important for me when lining the eye area. It also works great for lips, particularly when lining the lip area."
"This brush is such a great smudge brush. I love a smokey eye and this brush helps create that sultry look. It’s great for smudging not only shadow, but cream and liquid products as well. It is also my staple brush to use to create a highlight on the inner corner of the eye, which is part of my personal signature look. It’s so easy to use and the brush does all the work for me. "
