My name is Patrick Santa Ana and I have been doing makeup for 23 years. I have always loved color and the mixture of different shades and tones since elementary school when I started oil and watercolor painting. All throughout middle school and high school, I experimented with makeup on friends and my sister.
After high school, not knowing what I wanted to do for college, I worked backstage at LA Fashion Week as a clothing steamer and noticed commotion from the hair and makeup area that several artists didn’t show up. I offered my help and worked on a model with a specific undertone and due to my experience in oil painting, I was able to mix lipsticks, concealers, and foundations to match her skin. She and her agent loved my work and brought me onto all her shoots. I then built my portfolio doing trade shoots, weddings, proms, and any face I could practice on. As I worked throughout the years in any space, I eventually built a huge list of clients ranging from celebrities, major pharmaceutical companies, clothing brands, film, tv, commercial, magazines, department stores, or companies like Neutrogena, Peace Out, Vogue, Netflix, Amazon, etc. The world of makeup is huge and is not limited to just bridal or red carpet. I now have a boutique agency representing and training other artists.
