I work across a wide range of clients and occasions, including events, bridal, Halloween, and photo shoots, and I often find myself working with novices who feel overwhelmed by makeup.
Many struggle with where to begin, which brushes serve which purpose, and what the true must-haves are.
With that in mind, I’ve focused on a core selection of brushes that I believe provide the ideal starting point for both new makeup artists and everyday clients building confidence in their routine.
The OMNIA® Professional Series
These brushes are clearly designed with intention and care. The ultra-soft fibers are high quality and maintain their shape and performance even after repeated cleanings, making them a reliable long-term investment.
I also love the handle design—it allows me to hold the brush farther back for a lighter, more controlled application, which is key for seamless blending.
Finally, they’re genuinely affordable without sacrificing performance. Unlike many higher-priced brands that haven’t held up nearly as well, OMNIA® delivers professional quality without pricing anyone out,
and that accessibility is incredibly important, especially today.
I love this brush as it can be used for blush, bronzer, powder… it’s not too big so you can control placement and it feels very soft on the face which my clients have mentioned.
I love the angle and the density is perfect for applying liquids and creams. It provides great control on placement and blends like a dream.
Everyone needs a nice fluffy, perfectly sized eye blender—one that is not so big that it grabs too much product and doesn’t place product where you don’t want it. This is it for me as it checks those boxes while also giving nice lid coverage for any eye shape. The long handle allows for gentle pressure when blending. I also use it to give a touch of shimmer on the brow bone, nose, cupid’s bow, and cheekbone.
Much like the BOM-430, a small eye shadow brush is a must when you want to place shadow in a specific place with a bit more saturation. It still offers that soft feel so I can blend edges on the eye with precision, but also pick up the perfect amount of product and put it right where I want it.
I love a good smoked out liner and this is always the brush I reach for to achieve that soft, smokey look on the upper and lower lash line. The size is perfect for getting under the lower lashes and smoking out the lash line without spreading it where I don’t want it or interfering with all the other work I have done on the lid. I use it with powder, gel liner, pencils… works every time. I have also used this to apply lipstick and the shape hugs the lip line nicely and is great for blending the liner with the lipstick flawlessly.
